Maria Almiron
Registered Psychotherapist
Maria Paula Almiron graduated as a Clinical Psychologist in Universidad Nacional de Rosario, Argentina, in 1994. She subsequently completed equivalence training in the UK through the British Psychological Society and obtained her license as an independent clinical and forensic psychologist in 2001. Maria holds an active registration as a clinical and forensic psychologist in the Health Care Professions Council (UK) and is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
Maria is based at the Transcend site of CBT Niagara where she provides services to adults seeking resolution to internal and/or external obstacles as well as to those seeking to self- actualize and thrive as humans. Her approaches borrow from the cognitive-behavioural perspective, psychodynamic insights, somatic awareness, multiplicity and trauma-informed lenses. With a strong foundation in applied positive psychology, Maria has a commitment to helping people locate and channel their strengths to inhabit their optimal version.
Through rigorous academic education and exposure to personal experience, Maria became an early adopter of psychedelic assisted therapy within the regulatory framework available in Canada. As their potential to overcome self-defeating patterns gains more thorough scientific understanding, Maria actively contributes to shaping the space and growing the body of evidence. She is a protocol adherence rater in the MAPS-run trials of MDMA for the treatment of PTSD, a Senior Trainer with the Canadian non-profit TheraPsil, Head of Psychology at Beond Cancun Ibogaine Clinic, and the Lead Facilitator of Transend’s ketamine assisted therapy program in St Catharines.
